The Journey Of A Hot Air Balloon Safari

Mobila Safaris

The adventure begins in the early hours of the morning. While the Serengeti is still asleep, our dedicated crew prepares the launch site. The colorful balloon envelope is carefully spread across the ground, the basket is positioned and powerful fans begin filling the balloon with cool air. Every rope, burner and safety system is thoroughly checked before flight.

Parts of a hot air balloon

Once the balloon is partially inflated, the pilot ignites the burners. The burners heat the air inside the balloon to temperatures significantly warmer than the surrounding air. Because warm air is lighter than cool air, the balloon slowly rises into its upright position.

As the burners continue heating the air, the balloon gently lifts from the ground. The ascent is so smooth that many guests hardly notice they have left the earth until they look down.

A balloon doesn't fly through the sky, it floats with the wind. The pilot controls the balloon's altitude by adjusting the temperature inside the envelope, allowing them to find different wind currents. We operate medium size balloons (16 pax) to serve optimum Nyssa Balloon Safaris experiences.

Throughout the flight, our experienced ground crew follows the balloon from below using dedicated recovery vehicles. The team remains in constant communication with the pilot ensuring a smooth recovery after landing. Their coordination is an essential part of every successful flight.

A hot air balloon safari is more than an excursion, it is one of Tanzania's most iconic experiences. Partner with us to offer your guests an unforgettable journey above the Serengeti, where every sunrise brings a new adventure.
