Experience for Life: A Guest Story with Mobila Safaris

Mobila Safaris

There are journeys you take.

And then there are journeys that become part of you.

For one couple travelling with Mobila Safaris in January 2026, their Tanzanian safari became exactly that ; a luxury experience shaped not only by extraordinary wildlife, but by trust, expertise and genuine personal service.

Their words capture what we hope every guest feels:

“We felt that we were in very safe hands.”

From the beginning, professionalism and reliability were at the heart of their experience. They knew that the journey they had booked would be delivered with care ; and that they could enjoy Tanzania with complete confidence.

A major part of that confidence came from their guides.

Francis, a highly experienced member of the Mobila Safaris team, impressed them with his extensive knowledge of safari and wildlife, while his warm personality made each day in the bush feel personal and enjoyable.

John, also described as a skilled and personable guide, brought the same sense of expertise and reassurance to their journey.

For Mobila Safaris, this is what luxury safari is truly about.

It is not only the elegance of a tented camp beneath the African sky. It is not only waking to the sounds of the wilderness or watching wildlife move across the Serengeti.

Luxury is confidence.

Confidence in your guide.
Confidence in your itinerary.
Confidence in the people looking after you.

And when that confidence allows you to relax completely and immerse yourself in Tanzania, the journey becomes something greater than a holiday.

It becomes a memory you carry for life.

Booked as a Safari. Remembered as a Life Journey.

At Mobila Safaris, we create journeys that combine Tanzania's extraordinary wilderness with thoughtful planning, expert guiding and deeply personal service.

Because the greatest luxury is not simply seeing Africa.

It is experiencing it in the right hands.

Beyond Travel: Where Luxury Meets Purpose

Mobila Safaris

At Mobila Safaris, we have always believed that the soul of travel lies not only in the golden light of the Serengeti or the serene majesty of Mount Kilimanjaro at dawn. It lies in the people ; the communities that welcome our guests, share their heritage, and make Tanzania such an extraordinary destination.

That is why we believe that creating unforgettable luxury safaris also means walking hand in hand with the communities we call home.

With this in mind, the Mobila Safaris team, led by our Managing Director, Ms. Lucy, visited Faraja Orphanage Children’s Home in Shangarai, Arusha. We brought not only essential supplies, but also a message of compassion, dignity, and solidarity.

Our vehicles delivered basic necessities to support the children’s daily lives, including rice, beans, sugar, cooking oil, meat, wheat flour, diapers, wet wipes, soap, sanitary pads, and clothing.

For us, this was about far more than simply delivering food and supplies. It was an act of care and a reminder that true luxury extends far beyond what we experience; it is also reflected in what we give.

A Visit from the Heart

Ms. Lucy has a deep and genuine concern for the well-being of children. Her belief is simple: every child deserves to be seen, valued, protected, and loved.

At Faraja, this belief came to life through conversations, smiles, shared moments, and the warmth of human connection.

The Mobila Safaris team arrived not merely for a visit, but as part of a wider community. We took time to connect with the children and sought to better understand the everyday needs of their home.

The food supplies were provided to support the kitchen’s work, while hygiene products and clothing addressed practical daily needs.

Sometimes, change begins with something as simple as being willing to show up.

Luxury with Purpose

We believe that luxury travel and genuine human connection are not opposites ; they are deeply intertwined.

Every safari we create is an invitation to discover Tanzania in all its magnificence: its untouched wilderness, cultures, landscapes, and people. Yet the privilege of sharing this remarkable country also carries a responsibility, to contribute to the well-being of the communities that make these experiences possible.

At its best, tourism is about far more than business.

It is about connection.

It brings travellers closer to destinations, discovery closer to understanding, and opportunity closer to responsibility.

At Mobila Safaris, we want every journey to carry meaning beyond the itinerary.

The Human Side of Travel

This visit reminded us that meaningful change rarely comes from one grand gesture.

It grows through consistent acts of kindness: one plate of food, one essential item, one conversation, one helping hand at a time.

For the children of Faraja, the value of our visit lay not only in what we brought. It also lay in the time we spent together.

Ms. Lucy’s presence among the children reflected a principle at the heart of our philosophy: support becomes more meaningful when it is offered personally.

We do not want our commitment to the community to be limited to words or documents. We want to be present, to listen, to understand, and, whenever possible, to respond to real needs.

Our Commitment to the Community

Our visit to Faraja Orphanage Children’s Home is part of a broader belief: the benefits of tourism should be shared by all.

As we welcome travellers from around the world who wish to discover Tanzania, we also strive to contribute to the development of the communities around us.

Because a destination is much more than its landscapes.

It is its people.

And a truly extraordinary journey should leave behind far more than memories. It should leave connections, respect, opportunity, and positive impact.

To our clients, partners, and friends who continue to travel with Mobila Safaris ; thank you.

Every journey you take with us becomes part of a larger story.

A story in which luxury has heart, travel has purpose, and generosity becomes part of the journey.

Mobila Safaris

Luxury travel with heart.
Create your own story.

The Big Five: Where to See Africa’s Most Iconic Animals

Mobila Safaris

Few wildlife encounters can compare to seeing Africa’s Big Five in their natural environment: the lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros. Originally a hunting term used to describe the most difficult animals to track, it has now become one of the most famous and sought-after safari experiences.

In Tanzania, the Big Five are not simply a checklist to “collect.” They are part of a much broader story: vast ecosystems, ancient migration routes, conservation efforts, and landscapes that have remained wild for generations.

For travelers choosing a luxury safari in Tanzania, it is not only about observing animals. It is a journey at a slower pace, time spent in exceptional wilderness, and every encounter is experienced with space, comfort, and a true sense of discovery.

What Should I Pack for a First Safari in Tanzania?

Mobila Safaris

Your first safari in Tanzania is an adventure into some of the most beautiful wilderness on earth. The secret to packing well is simple: keep it light, breathable, practical, and comfortable.

Many safari flights have a strict 15 kg (33 lb) luggage allowance, usually requiring soft-sided bags. You do not need a huge wardrobe ; just a few versatile pieces that work from cool early mornings to warm afternoons in the bush.

The Clothing Rule: Neutral & Layered

Choose Earth Tones

Pack safari-friendly colors such as:

  • Khaki
  • Olive
  • Beige
  • Tan
  • Brown

These colors blend naturally into the environment and are practical for dusty game-drive days.

Avoid Certain Colors

Dark blue and black: These can attract tsetse flies in some areas, so they are best avoided when possible.

Bright white: White clothing shows dust and dirt very quickly, especially during long game drives.

Layers Are Essential

Safari temperatures can change dramatically throughout the day. Early morning game drives can feel surprisingly cold, while afternoons may be hot and sunny.

A good combination is:

  • Lightweight T-shirts
  • Long-sleeved shirts
  • A warm fleece
  • A lightweight windbreaker
  • Comfortable trousers or zip-off cargo pants
  • Lightweight sleepwear
  • A light sweater or jacket for cool evenings

Tip: Dress in layers rather than carrying heavy clothing. You can add or remove a layer as the temperature changes.

Footwear: Keep It Light

You generally do not need heavy hiking boots for a classic vehicle-based safari.

Bring:

  • Comfortable, broken-in trail runners
  • Lightweight hiking shoes
  • Sandals or comfortable shoes for relaxing at your lodge or camp

If your itinerary includes longer walking or hiking experiences, your safari specialist can advise you on the most suitable footwear.

The Tech & Gear You Will Appreciate

Binoculars

A good pair of binoculars can transform your safari experience. They allow you to see animals, birds and details that may be far beyond the reach of the naked eye.

A pair of 8x42 or 10x42 binoculars is an excellent choice.

Camera Gear

If photography is important to you, consider bringing:

  • A telephoto zoom lens of around 200–300mm or more
  • Extra memory cards
  • Spare batteries
  • A dustproof camera bag or protective cover
  • A small cleaning cloth for lenses

You do not need professional equipment to capture wonderful safari memories. Your smartphone can also produce excellent photographs, especially for landscapes, people and close encounters.

Power Bank

Long days in the wilderness can mean limited access to charging points.

A 10,000mAh or larger power bank can help keep your phone and other small devices charged when you need them most.

Plug Adapter

Tanzania generally uses Type G, three-pin UK-style plugs, so bring a suitable travel adapter if your devices use another plug type.

Sun Protection & Personal Comfort

The African sun can be strong, particularly during afternoon game drives.

Pack:

  • A wide-brimmed hat
  • Sunglasses
  • SPF 30+ sunscreen
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Lightweight, breathable clothing
  • A reusable water bottle

A hat with a chin strap is especially useful in an open safari vehicle, where the wind can be surprisingly strong.

Bug Protection

Wildlife areas are home to insects, particularly around certain habitats and during particular seasons.

A good insect repellent containing 20–30% DEET or Picaridin is useful. Long-sleeved shirts and long trousers can also provide an additional layer of protection, especially around dawn and dusk.

The Little "Bush Toilet" Kit

Not every moment of a safari happens beside a bathroom. During longer game drives, it is useful to carry a small personal kit containing:

  • Pocket tissues
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Wet wipes
  • A small pack of biodegradable tissues
  • Personal medication
  • A small zip-lock or waste bag

Keep it discreetly in your daypack so it is always within easy reach.

What to Carry in Your Daypack

For a full day in the bush, a small comfortable daypack is ideal. Consider carrying:

Binoculars • Camera • Sunglasses • Hat • Sunscreen • Water • Power bank • Insect repellent • Tissues • Hand sanitizer • Light jacket

You can leave most of your luggage at your lodge or camp and take only what you need for the day.

The Golden Rule: Pack Less, Experience More

A Tanzanian safari is not a fashion competition. You will spend your days watching wildlife, exploring incredible landscapes and enjoying time in the bush , not carrying a heavy suitcase.

Choose lightweight layers, comfortable shoes, neutral colors and practical essentials. With the right basics, you will be prepared for cool mornings, warm afternoons, dusty tracks and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Pack light. Leave room for memories. Tanzania will take care of the rest.

Planning your first Tanzania safari? Mobila Safaris can help you prepare not only your itinerary, but also the practical details that make your journey comfortable from arrival to departure.

Beyond the Horizon: The Art of Unhurried Luxury in the Serengeti

Mobila Safaris

There is a moment just after dawn in the Serengeti when the rest of the world simply ceases to exist.

You stand on the private timber deck of your canvas suite, a porcelain cup of freshly brewed Tanzanian coffee warming your hands. 100 yards away, through the morning mist, a pride of lions moves silently through the golden grass. There are no engine sounds. No chatter. No other vehicles in sight.

This is not just travel. This is total immersion.

The Journey Of A Hot Air Balloon Safari

Mobila Safaris

The adventure begins in the early hours of the morning. While the Serengeti is still asleep, our dedicated crew prepares the launch site. The colorful balloon envelope is carefully spread across the ground, the basket is positioned and powerful fans begin filling the balloon with cool air. Every rope, burner and safety system is thoroughly checked before flight.

Parts of a hot air balloon

Once the balloon is partially inflated, the pilot ignites the burners. The burners heat the air inside the balloon to temperatures significantly warmer than the surrounding air. Because warm air is lighter than cool air, the balloon slowly rises into its upright position.

As the burners continue heating the air, the balloon gently lifts from the ground. The ascent is so smooth that many guests hardly notice they have left the earth until they look down.

A balloon doesn't fly through the sky, it floats with the wind. The pilot controls the balloon's altitude by adjusting the temperature inside the envelope, allowing them to find different wind currents. We operate medium size balloons (16 pax) to serve optimum Nyssa Balloon Safaris experiences.

Throughout the flight, our experienced ground crew follows the balloon from below using dedicated recovery vehicles. The team remains in constant communication with the pilot ensuring a smooth recovery after landing. Their coordination is an essential part of every successful flight.

A hot air balloon safari is more than an excursion, it is one of Tanzania's most iconic experiences. Partner with us to offer your guests an unforgettable journey above the Serengeti, where every sunrise brings a new adventure.

The Ultimate Serengeti Symphony: Hippos, Grunts, and a Guide Named Chacha

Mobila Safaris

Imagine this: The sun is high over the Serengeti. You’re parked at the edge of the famous Hippo Pool, watching dozens of majestic, multi-ton hippos splash, yawn, and create their signature chaotic soundtrack.

For one wonderful family from Denmark, this wasn't a nature documentary. It was their front-row reality.

Pure Serengeti Magic (Through the Eyes of Kids)

There is nothing quite like watching the Serengeti through the eyes of children. Armed with cameras and wide-eyed wonder, our young Danish adventurers were completely transfixed. Every giant splash, every competitive grunt, and every dramatic yawn from the pod was met with pure joy.

But what turns a great game drive into an unforgettable story? The person in the driver’s seat.

Enter Chacha: "The Ambassador"

Enter Chacha, affectionately known as The Ambassador. A great guide doesn’t just point out wildlife; they bring the savannah to life.

As the hippos put on a show in the water, Chacha was commanding the vehicle, translating the wild symphony of the Serengeti. With his deep knowledge, sharp wit, and infectious passion, he didn’t just teach the family about hippo behavior he made them part of the crew.

The Verdict?

Total enchantment. Hearing the wild sounds of the pool while listening to The Ambassador weave his magic is exactly why we do what we do.

Ready to write your own Serengeti story?

The Hippo Pool is waiting, and Chacha has a seat saved for you.
